Gravel bikes: inherently bulky
Unlike a sleek and compact road bike, a gravel bike is designed for adventure: wide handlebars, voluminous tires, sometimes semi-permanent panniers. In an apartment, these features make floor storage problematic. The bike takes up space, obstructs circulation, and gets damaged more easily when leaning against a wall.

Constraint #1: Flared handlebars take up the entire width
The flared handlebars are a hallmark of gravel bikes. They offer better control on varied terrain, but in an apartment, they become an obstacle: they snag on furniture, scratch walls, and make it difficult to navigate narrow hallways. A wall mount that suspends the bike vertically (by the front wheel) reduces its footprint to zero and positions the handlebars flush with the wall, where they won't get in anyone's way.
Constraint #2: Panniers and bikepacking accessories
Many gravel bike owners leave their panniers attached to the bike between rides. A wheel-based mount keeps the bike vertical and allows panniers to remain in place without overloading the attachment point. However, a horizontal frame-based mount is preferable if the bike is loaded: it distributes the weight better and reduces stress on the fork and front wheel.
Constraint #3: The total weight of the gravel bike
An average gravel bike weighs between 8 and 11 kg. With panniers and accessories, it can easily exceed 15 kg. It is therefore essential to choose a wall mount designed to support this load, fixed into a load-bearing wall or suitable partition.
