Step-by-Step Guide: Installing Your Bike Rack on Any Wall

What You'll Need

  • Power drill with masonry or wood bits
  • Spirit level
  • Pencil and tape measure
  • Rawl plugs (included with your rack)
  • M6 bolts (included)

Before You Start

Identify your wall type — brick, concrete, or stud wall. Use a stud finder or a simple knock test. Never mount a bike rack into plasterboard alone; always locate a stud or use specialist hollow-wall anchors rated to the full bike weight.

Step-by-Step Installation

  1. Mark your fixings: Hold the bracket against the wall at the desired height (we recommend 1.5–1.7 m from floor to bracket base). Use a spirit level and pencil to mark all four fixing holes.
  2. Drill the holes: Use the correct drill bit for your wall. For brick or concrete, use a masonry bit (8 mm). Drill to the depth of your rawl plug.
  3. Insert rawl plugs: Tap them flush with the wall surface.
  4. Attach the bracket: Align the bracket with the holes and hand-tighten the bolts. Check level again before fully tightening.
  5. Test before loading: Apply firm downward pressure on the bracket before hanging your bike.

Tips for UK Homes

Victorian and Edwardian terraces often have solid brick walls — ideal for our racks. Modern new-builds with dot-and-dab plasterboard require extra care; always locate the metal stud or use heavy-duty cavity fixings rated to at least 50 kg per fixing point.
