The question of load: a critical point
Before hanging your bike on the wall, the question of weight is fundamental. An undersized support can give way and damage your bike—or worse, injure someone.
The weight of different types of bicycles
- High-end road bike: 6 to 9 kg
- Gravel bike: 8 to 12 kg
- City or hybrid bike: 12 to 18 kg
- Electric bike: 18 to 30 kg
What determines the load capacity
The load capacity depends on two factors: the support itself and the wall mounting. A brushed stainless steel support like those from David & Clément is designed to largely support the weight of road and gravel bikes. The wall mounting must be adapted to the type of wall (concrete, plasterboard, brick).
Wall mounts according to wall type
- Concrete or brick wall: expansion anchors, very strong.
- Plasterboard partition: mounting on metal studs or special plasterboard anchors.
- Wooden wall: screws directly into the wood, very reliable.
Our recommendation
For a road or gravel bike, the Compact Bike Setup and the Design Bike Setup are sized to support these loads without any problem. If in doubt about your wall type, call in a professional for installation.
