Introduction
Installing a wall-mounted bike rack can seem daunting if you're not a DIY enthusiast. In reality, with the right tools and instructions, it's a job that takes less than 15 minutes. Here's the complete guide.
Required materials
- Drill with a bit suitable for the material (concrete, brick, plasterboard)
- Spirit level
- Pencil
- Screwdriver or Allen key
- Wall plugs and screws (included with our racks)
Step 1: Choose the location
Determine the ideal height: the center of the wheel 1.30-1.50 m from the ground for a wheel support, or the frame's attachment point 1.20-1.40 m for a bike support. Check for electrical cables or pipes in the wall.
Step 2: Mark the drilling points
Position the rack against the wall and mark the drilling points with a pencil. Check for horizontal alignment with the spirit level.
Step 3: Drill
Drill at the marked points with the appropriate bit:
- Concrete/brick: SDS drill bit, depth = wall plug length + 5 mm
- Plasterboard: standard drill bit, locate studs if possible
Step 4: Insert the wall plugs
Insert the wall plugs into the holes. They should go in by hand or with light hammer taps.
Step 5: Attach the rack
Position the rack and tighten the screws. Do not overtighten to avoid damaging the wall. Recheck horizontal alignment.
Step 6: Test
Before hanging your bike, test the rack's solidity by pulling on it firmly. It should not move.
Conclusion
In less than 15 minutes, your David & Clément rack is installed and your bike can take its place of honor.
