Installing a wall-mounted bike rack requires no special skills or professional tools. In less than 10 minutes, your bike can be hung neatly, securely, and displayed beautifully. Here's the complete installation guide for your David & Clément rack — step-by-step, no fuss.
Tools needed
- A drill with a bit suitable for your wall type
- A spirit level
- A pencil
- The provided anchors and screws (or ones suitable for your wall)
- A screwdriver or wrench depending on the screws
Choosing the right location
Height: For a single-wheel rack, fix the rack between 1.50 m and 1.80 m from the ground depending on the size of your bike. For a horizontal rack, ensure enough clearance so the bike does not touch the ground.
Load-bearing wall: Always choose a load-bearing wall or a partition with studs. Avoid areas where electrical conduits or pipes run.
Spacing: If you are installing multiple racks, allow at least 80 cm between each bike for easy access.
Identify the type of wall
- Concrete or brick: Use a masonry drill bit and expansion anchors. This is the simplest and strongest case.
- Plasterboard (drywall): Use toggle anchors (Molly type) or aim for a metal stud if possible.
- Wood: Screw directly into the wood with suitable wood screws.
Installation steps
- Position the rack against the wall at the desired height and mark the drilling points with a pencil.
- Check for horizontal alignment with a spirit level before drilling.
- Drill the holes with the appropriate drill bit for your wall, to the recommended depth for your anchors.
- Insert the anchors into the holes, pushing them flush with the wall.
- Secure the rack by screwing the screws into the anchors. Tighten firmly without over-tightening.
- Check the sturdiness by pulling on the rack before hanging your bike.
Checking and loading
Before hanging your bike, test the sturdiness of the rack by applying downward and outward pressure. The rack should not move. Then hang your bike and check that it is stable and well-balanced.

Can I install the rack by myself? Yes, but a second pair of hands is useful for holding the rack during drilling.
Are the screws and anchors provided? Yes, each David & Clément rack comes with a complete fixing kit suitable for concrete and brick walls. For plasterboard, we recommend using toggle anchors.
