Daily bike maintenance: good habits

A well-maintained bike is a bike that lasts and performs. You don't need to be a mechanic to adopt a few simple habits that will make all the difference in the long run.

After Each Ride

Wipe the frame and drivetrain with a dry cloth. If you've ridden in the rain or on muddy paths, a quick clean with water and mild soap is essential. Avoid high-pressure jets, which can damage bearings.

The Chain: Priority Number 1

A clean and lubricated chain is fundamental. Degrease it regularly and apply a lubricant suited to the season (dry or wet). A neglected chain prematurely wears out the chainring and cassette.

Weekly Checks

Each week, check tire pressure, brake pad wear, and the tightness of the main screws. Two minutes are enough to avoid a breakdown at the wrong time.

Storage, the Last Link in Maintenance

Storing your bike correctly is also part of maintenance. A wall mount prevents falls, protects the frame, and keeps the bike in an ideal position. Away from damp ground, protected from impacts — your bike will thank you.

A few minutes of maintenance per week, years of extra enjoyment.
