Installing a wall-mounted bike rack is easier than it looks
Many cyclists hesitate to take the plunge for fear of the work involved. Yet, installing a wall-mounted bike rack takes only 20 to 30 minutes with the right tools. Here is our step-by-step guide.
Step 1: Choose the right location
Identify a load-bearing wall or a solid partition. Avoid lightweight drywall without studs. Ideally, fix the rack to a concrete or brick wall, or to the studs of a drywall partition. Make sure you have enough height so that the suspended bike does not touch the floor.
Step 2: Gather the materials
You will need a drill, a drill bit suitable for your wall type, a spirit level, a pencil, and the mounting kit provided with your David & Clément rack (anchors, screws, and drilling template included).
Step 3: Mark the drilling points
Use the provided template to precisely mark the drilling points on the wall. Check for levelness with the spirit level before drilling.
Step 4: Drill and install the anchors
Drill at the marked locations with the appropriate bit. Insert the anchors, pushing them flush with the wall. If you are drilling into concrete, use a hammer drill.
Step 5: Screw in the rack and hang the bike
Secure the wall mount with the provided screws. Check the stability by applying pressure before hanging your bike. All that's left is to hang your bike and admire the result!
Maintenance tips
Regularly check that the screws are tight (every 6 months). The stainless steel of our racks requires no special maintenance, just a wipe with a dry cloth to keep it looking shiny.
