Wheels, the investment that changes everything
After the frame, the wheels are the element that most influences a bike's performance and feel. A good wheelset can transform an ordinary machine into a real pleasure to ride.
Carbon vs. Aluminum
- Carbon: lighter, stiffer, better aerodynamics. Ideal for road cycling and demanding rides. High price.
- Aluminum: more robust, cheaper, easier to repair. Ideal for gravel and rough terrain.
Tubeless or tubular?
- Tubeless: no inner tube, less risk of punctures, lower pressure for more comfort. Dominant trend.
- Tubular: tradition in competitive cycling, light and performing, but complex to repair.
- Classic inner tube: simple and reliable, ideal for beginners.
Rim depth
A deep rim (50 mm and more) is more aerodynamic but sensitive to side winds. A shallow rim (25-35 mm) is more versatile and manageable. For gravel, wide and shallow rims are preferred.
Store your wheels correctly
