Height: The Detail That Changes Everything
Installing your bike rack too high or too low creates daily inconveniences: difficulty hanging the bike, risk of hitting the floor or ceiling, unbalanced aesthetics. Here's how to find the ideal height.
Factors to Consider
- Bike height: A road bike measures approximately 100 to 110 cm in total height.
- Ceiling height: Allow at least 20 cm of clearance between the top of the bike and the ceiling.
- Your height: You should be able to comfortably hang and unhang the bike.
- The floor: The lower wheel should not touch the floor.
Recommended Height
For most setups, fixing the rack between 140 and 160 cm from the floor (measured at the fixing point) is a good starting point. This allows the bike to be suspended with the wheel approximately 30-40 cm from the floor.
Tip Before Drilling
Simulate the position with adhesive tape on the wall before drilling. Have someone hold the rack at the correct height while you hang the bike to visualize the result. It's 5 minutes well spent.
